In January of 2010, the LSU Northeast Oklahoma Chapter took a significant step in promoting and fostering the presence of LSU in the Tulsa area by founding the LSU Northeast Oklahoma Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund with an initial $1,000 deposit. The goal is to raise $20,000 so that the scholarship can be endowed. Once endowment is reached, the chapter scholarship can be issued to award $500 per semester. The chapter plans to work towards endowment by annually contributing to the fund through its operating revenue as chapter funds permit, as well as conducting dedicated fundraisers to reach the goal. Alumni Chapter Scholarships can be established by any LSUAA certified chapter and usually have the following elements: · For chapter area students attending LSU · For entering freshmen or continuing students · GPA and/or ACT requirements · Can be for one semester or through four-years · Amounts vary · Restrictions determined by chapter · It takes $20,000 to endow a scholarship that will award $500 per semester Once established, the LSU NE OK Chapter website will publish the guidelines and the process to apply. LSUAA will review all qualified students and award the scholarship based on the criteria pre-defined by the chapter.
